Passenger coaches
Batteries are used on conventional train passenger coaches to provide a reliable emergency power supply in case of failure of the main power supply. In older type of coaches they may come into operation not only for emergency purposes, but also whenever the train is at a standstill. These batteries maintain lighting, ventilation, air-conditioning, switching & transmission systems as well as emergency braking and anti-skid systems.
